Yetunde Dania
Partner Yetunde Dania will be the new head of Trowers & Hamlins’ Birmingham office with effect from 1 January 2020. Yetunde takes over the reigns from Amardeep Gill who spent 4 years in the role.
Yetunde has been at the firm for over 8 years having joined with her fellow partner, Rebecca McGuirk, to open the Birmingham office.
She has 25 years’ experience advising on residential landlord and tenant disputes and non-contentious matters with a particular focus on representing social housing sector and private sector landlords together with letting agents.
In the social housing sector Yetunde works across the Midlands and nationally helping clients with a wide variety of housing law issues, such as; devising strategies for progressing cases in the most cost efficient manner, dealing with injunction and possession matters related to serious breaches of tenancy due to, for example, the most serious forms of anti-social and criminal behaviour, hoarding, unauthorised works by tenants to their property, subletting, tenancy fraud, failed succession which can be further complicated by factors such as mental health. In recent years Yetunde has transferred her experience to the private rented sector where she again deals with the wide spectrum of breaches of tenancy and advises on housing legislation and regulations.
Trowers & Hamlins is an international law firm with offices across the UK and the Middle and Asia. The firm has been located in Birmingham for over 8 years having moved to its office 10 Colmore Row in 2011. The recent hires of Mathew Harvey and Mike McMahon (Corporate) together with the 50% growth over the last year of the commercial and property litigation teams are testament to the expansion of the firms work in the Midlands and its strategy for growth.
Yetunde is well known for her work with a wide variety of businesses across the region and she is currently on the advisory board of Common Purpose and the Care Leavers Covenant. She is passionate about increasing the diversity and inclusion of the legal profession and regularly talk at events hosted by other firms of solicitors and organisations focused on inspiring the next generations such as Aspiring Solicitors and Birmingham Black Lawyers who awarded her their Lawyer of the Year award in June 2019.
Commenting on her new role, Yetunde said: “The Trowers office in Birmingham has undergone considerable growth in the last few years under the brilliant leadership of Amardeep Gill. I am really excited to be taking over the role at a time when we are well positioned to continue to expand in both the public and private sectors. We are currently working on a number of significant projects across Birmingham and the Midlands, from those looking into what makes our cities prosperous to social mobility, promoting diversity and exploring how we can engage with younger members of our community. I am also looking forward to helping to develop innovative ideas and implement new thinking that will have a really positive impact on the areas we live and work in as I am confident that this gives us a really strong platform for further growth in the next few years.”
