Timms Solicitors sponsor Derby Family Fun Run

Derby Family Fun Run

More than 200 people of all ages joined the Derby Family Fun Run on Sunday which runs alongside Derby Half Marathon and was sponsored for the fifth year by Timms Solicitors.

The 2k event is designed to encourage families to get active together and participants included four members of staff from Timms and their families.  Charlotte Day and Matt Light from Timms also ran in the Half Marathon.

The event started and finished for the first time this year in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter – close to Timms’ city centre office.

The event was started by Timms partner Tessa Dunleavy and the Mayor of Derby Cllr Frank Harwood and everyone who entered was rewarded with a medal and goody bag.

As well as manning a stand in the event village in the Market Place, volunteers from Timms handed water out to Half Marathon runners at Elvaston Castle which was six miles into the 13.1 mile course.

Timms Managing Partner Fiona Moffat said: “This event is one of the highlights of the city’s sporting calendar and it has been our privilege to sponsor the Derby Family Fun Run for the past five years.

“We were particularly pleased that the start and finish line was staged in Iron Gate for the first time this year – just a stone’s throw from our Derby office.

“There was a real buzz throughout the Cathedral Quarter on Sunday with runners and their supporters enjoying some well deserved refreshments at local venues before and after the events.

“I am particularly grateful for our staff for volunteering their time to support both the Half Marathon and Family Fun Run by participating as part of Team Timms, cheering on the runners and manning one of the all-important water stations.

“We were proud to be a Cathedral Quarter business being proactive in this great area of the city centre for an event that brings people together to get active, challenge themselves and raise money for some very worthwhile charities.”

Derby Half Marathon and Family Fun Run was organised by Run for All: www.runforall.com.
