The Village build mobile community hub for Solihull residents

Community charity project, The Village, is extending its virtues in Solihull by building a multi-functional mobile village to deliver support and aid to vulnerable people across the district. After securing funding from local mental health charity, Living Well UK, the charities will work collaboratively to build the portable hub and bring community to the doorsteps of even the most isolated of neighbours.

The renowned global works of The Village has seen holistic support reach far and wide to communities in Lesotho, Bethlehem and now Solihull, carrying out builds to sincerely enhance the lives of others within communities. Since the project came to fruition in 2018, more than 400 lives have been touched by the charity thanks to the heartening works of over 30 veteran volunteers.

Throughout the pandemic, The Village ran a Hygiene Bank for the Solihull community which offered free sanitary products as well as helping to distribute over 80,000 hygiene items to local residents, its team also delivering online cooking classes and encouraged environmental care of local spaces through rewilding packs to grow wildflowers and encourage bee pollination. With the launch of the Mobile Village, this will allow Villagers to amplify their impact and work even closer with its community partners and support the residents of Solihull.

Making the new venture possible through a generous donation, one of the West Midlands’ leading mental health charities – Living Well UK – will be working with The Village. From developing targeted therapies and holistic support that will be offered within the Mobile Village, the collaboration is intended to be a driving force for good within the region.

Commenting on the new portable hub, Programmes Manager Daisy-May Super, commented:

“It’s fantastic to be able to extend our efforts in Solihull thanks to Living Well’s donation. In North Solihull, 73% of children live in low-income households with a lone parent. From the cooking school and rewilding project, we’ve met many residents within the community but the Mobile Village will help us to bring our services and activities to the doorsteps of so many more individuals within the area.”

“We’re so grateful to have Living Well UK onboard and we’re also looking to join forces with local businesses to help us deliver our aims. The project would be a great investment for a  forward-thinking business leader looking to support vulnerable communities with access to mental health, wellbeing and physical activity opportunities. For those looking to make a difference, we’d love you to get in touch”, Daisy concludes.

Construction of the Mobile Village has now begun, if you’d like further information on the project or would like to help support the cause, visit The Village Website.
