The Mintridge Foundation has published a children’s book celebrating the inspirational life stories of positive sporting role models. Foundations: Life Journeys that Amaze and Inspire offers a collection of uplifting, illustrated interviews featuring a variety of Mintridge’s athlete ambassadors from various sports.
Brought life by author, sports journalist and freelance writer Sarah Juggins and illustrator Patrick Latham, the book is aimed at the younger audience ranging from 8-18 years and outlines the career successes, failures, disappointments, injuries, recoveries, and moments of ecstasy of 38 athletes. Each of the ambassadors has contributed to this book in a one-to-one interview with the author to ensure their individual journeys are accurately represented.
The Mintridge Foundation’s team of Ambassadors consists of Olympians, Paralympians and professional sports stars from over 20 sports; including the likes of and Shona McCallin MBE and Eboni Usoro-Brown and many more. Together, they work with young people in schools, clubs and academies across the UK to nurture raw talent, increase confidence and enhance life skills, alongside increasing awareness about the importance of maintaining both mental and physical wellbeing.
Commenting on this latest project, founder and Managing Director Alex Wallace said: “We’re so excited to have launched our first illustrated children’s book! It’s our mission to inspire young people to adopt a positive and healthy lifestyle in order to find worth and confidence in themselves.
“As well as celebrating each of our ambassador’s unique journeys and challenges, the book aims to promote the benefits of maintaining positive coping strategies to benefit for your mental health and we hope that the athlete’s individual stories will resonate with young people across the country.”
Harnessing the power of positive sporting role models, the Foundation has been providing school children across the country with long-term mentorship to nurture their talents and wellbeing through sport since 2015.
Founded by Alex Wallace in 2015, the Mintridge Foundation offers eight core programmes that can be expertly tailored to suit a variety of budgets and requirements.
