London’s largest food redistribution charity, The Felix Project, delivers £318 worth of good food for every £30 donated to help children, families and people in need.
The food is high quality and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, and dairy as well as healthy cooked meals and treats.
The Felix Project is able to do this because the charity takes donations of surplus food supply from the food industry. The food is in-date, safe and good quality. It is checked over in their London warehouses by a dedicated team of volunteers, who then deliver it in Felix’s green vans for free to local charities and schools across London. Thanks to this model, the charity delivers a 10x return on investment.
Mark Curtin, CEO of The Felix Project, says: “There has been much debate this week about the value, quality and volume of food provided to families in need of support. The Felix Project is proud to deliver such high quantity and quality of food for just £30. Please engage the surplus food redistribution charities in this work to feed families – we are ready, willing and very, very capable.”
Justin Byam Shaw, Founder of The Felix Project, says: ““I hope it is now becoming obvious to everyone that £30 given to charities like the Felix Project will result in far, far more good food reaching people in need than anything any private contractor, paid by the Government, can achieve.
“We understand how to get food to the poorest people and we won’t make a profit out of it. We would love to help the Government feed more hungry children in London right now.”
Every day The Felix Project rescues and deliver enough food for 125k meals to help people in need in London. Without the efforts of The Felix Project, all this good food would be wasted.
