Thanks to players of The Health Lottery London homeless project receives funding

The Single Homeless Project in London helps single people by preventing homelessness, providing support and accommodation, promoting wellbeing, enhancing opportunity, and being a voice for change.

Thanks to players of The Health Lottery, £15,000 has been awarded by the Health Lottery Foundation to support the expansion of the Young Person’s Psychotherapy Service (YPPS), providing vital psychological support to young people experiencing homelessness in South London.

This service focuses on mid, to long-term mental health interventions, recognising that while access to safe accommodation is a crucial first step, without a cohesive support package, young people are at risk of continuing into the adult world carrying and facing further trauma, instability and unaddressed issues.

The charity said “Many young people we support grew up around instability or fear. Without the right mental health intervention, those early experiences can deepen into trauma that drives future homelessness. By addressing trauma early and promoting long-term wellbeing, our service helps prevent crises before they happen — breaking cycles of homelessness and giving young people the chance to build confident, healthy, and independent futures.”

Martin Ellice, MD of The Health Lottery said, “Thanks to our players, The Health Lottery has now helped raise more than £135 million for health-related good causes. My team and I are incredibly proud of the amazing work of over 3500 projects across Great Britain funded through The Health Lottery.”
