Tech entrepreneurs launch game-changing hospitality staffing app

Gigsta co-founders, Hussain Shabbir and Yuting Zhao

Birmingham-based tech entrepreneurs Hussain Shabbir and Yuting Zhao have developed a mobile app for part-time employment opportunities for students searching for part-time hospitality jobs around their studies and timetables. Allowing students to work at their convenience and saving hospitality businesses money and time, Gigsta ensures essential roles can be filled with quality staff within a few clicks.

After struggling to find part-time work to fit around their studies first-hand, international Aston University students Hussain and Yuting developed a solution – Gigsta – for both students and hospitality venues looking to fill short-term vacancies with minimal notice required.

With the business starting up just over a year ago in April 2021, the pair have now invested almost £25,000 and are now to bring this game-changing staffing application to life.

When discussing the launch of Gigsta, Co-founder Hussain Shabbir commented:

“We are really excited to be launching Gigsta this autumn; we aim to show people that looking for part-time work or finding staffing solutions doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. “

The brand-new mobile app allows students to create a personal profile, which includes a headshot, bio, skills list and relevant experience, to act as a virtual CV. Once signed up, students can then access a list of current vacancies available within their local area and are able to filter by job description, location, and hourly rate before applying within the app through a one-click applying system.

Employers are then able to review any applications and assess who would be the best fit for the job; what’s more, payment is processed directly within the app and relies on staff scanning a QR code upon arrival and departure of the shift, this a huge relief for the hospitality venues as they do not need to handle any of the payroll processes which can often be time consuming and inconvenient.

Sharing her enthusiasm for the brand, Co-Founder Yuting Zhao stated:

“I believe Gigsta will be a game-changer for the hospitality industry. Being a former business owner myself, I would have loved to have a service like Gigsta that would have eased my staffing issues and saved me a tonne of money while doing so. I am so excited to be bringing Gigsta to life.”

Gigsta will begin accepting student sign-ups from mid-September onwards before launching for employers and businesses from early October.
