An award-winning team of IT support specialists made such a good impression with a client that they were rewarded with homemade chocolate cake.
Staff at Nottinghamshire-based Your IT Department were delighted to receive the sweet treat from one of Nottingham’s oldest family-owned businesses, Jones & Co, as a ‘thank you’ for their support during a major logistical project.
The tasty gift was baked by the IT manager at Jones & Co, Lynn Skinner, who was impressed by the dedication of the engineers and support staff, helping to overcome many challenges during the company’s relocation to a new building.
“The team at Your IT Department was brilliant – they went above and beyond to make sure that moving our IT infrastructure went as smoothly as possible,” said Lynn.
“So when I found out that one of their engineers loves chocolate cake, I had to bake something special to show how much we appreciated them all.”
The relocation project involved creating a new server room, transferring equipment and ensuring all the systems were working efficiently.
“The engineers worked out of hours to make sure we didn’t experience any downtime,” added Lynn. “But more than that, the whole team are approachable, understanding and great to work with.
“That dedication means a lot these days and I felt that it deserved a special gift. I like baking cakes so it was a joy to make them a treat.”
Understandably, the delicious dessert was warmly welcomed by the staff at the Eastwood-based company. Managing Director Lee Hewson said: “It was a wonderful gesture and, quite literally, the icing on the cake for our dedicated team.
“It’s great to receive such fantastic feedback and we are delighted to continue to support Jones & Co in the future.”
Jones was founded in 1909, supplying buttons for ladies’ garments, and weathering the war years. At its peak, it produced 200 million buttons a year for the fashion industry. In the 1980s, the business diversified and launched Jones Interiors, which is now a leading name in the textiles and soft furnishings sector.
Today, Jones & Co operates several divisions under one roof at its state-of-the-art facility on Lortas Road in New Basford. It supplies more than 17,000 bespoke products to independent shops and interior designers across the UK, including Liberty, M&S and Next.
Your IT Department has won several awards in recent years and provides managed IT services to more than 100 businesses across the UK. The firm was named in the Top 50 Best Managed IT Companies in the UK for the fourth year in a row.
