Stamford Ladies Ice Ball raises over £30,000 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice

A year in the planning, the Ice Ball 2020, organised by The Stamford Ladies and their biggest fundrasing endeavour yet, welcomed 210 guests for an evening of glitz and glamour raising over a staggering £32,000 for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough.

With an eye-catching snowflake ice sculpture, sponsored by Stamford-based architects – Urban Edge – and winter-themed decorations created by Stamford College fashion & graphics students under the supervision of teachers Tara Coulson and Pam Mairs, the Rutland Suite function room at Greetham Valley was transformed into a fairytale setting.

Many local businesses sponsored the Ice Ball, donating cash and auction prizes.  A special thank you to Alltech, MultiFab, Bluebird Care, Tailored Escapes, Equilibrium, Espiral, Pakex, Rachel Barnes, JD Carter, Sports Ground Development, Chauffeur VIP, Fenmarc, Urban Inprint, Marigold Cleaning and Stamford Heavenly Chocolates.

Hosting the night was comedian Adger Brown who, through the prize auction, helped raise over £20,000. During the sumptuous three-course dinner, 2009 X-Factor finalist, Nicole Lawrence, provided musical entertainment before DJ Rick Holder turned the spotlights onto the crowd for dancing into the early hours.’

Julie Gay, Chair of Stamford Ladies and one of the event organisers said, ‘We were overwhelmed by the level of interest the Ball generated. From the drive of the people who worked behind the scenes to the many sponsors who gave so generously, both the Stamford Ladies and Thorpe Hall are hugely grateful. The success of the event means we are motivated to continue with fundraising events to raise more funds for the Hospice that nursed one of my dearest friends in the final weeks of her life.’
