Southampton Football Club welcomes One Water as Official Bottled Water

Southampton Football Club is delighted to welcome One Water as its Official Bottled Water Partner, in an agreement that will both aid the club’s sustainability drive and allow it to support the fight against water poverty.

One Water was launched in 2005 with a clear vision – to sell bottled water in the UK to help fund clean water projects in areas of the world that need it most.

To date, The One Brand has raised in excess of £20m with its charitable arm, The One Foundation, changing the lives of more than 3.8 million people across the globe, with a minimum of 2p being donated from every litre sold.

It is also a founding member of the Certified B Corporations in the UK, which are businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

One Water will now supply all bottled water to the club, which will see single-use plastic still water bottles at St Mary’s being replaced by 100 per cent recyclable One Water RPET bottles, made from 100 per cent recycled plastic, resulting in a reduction of more than 50,000 single-use plastic bottles per season.

The partnership will, therefore, further enhance the club’s sustainability strategy, with Saints aiming to have a neutral environmental impact by 2030 and having already signed up to Southampton City Council’s Green City Charter, committing to help make the city a cleaner, greener and healthier place to live, work and visit.

The club and One Water will also work together on collaborative projects to support sustainability and access-to-water projects, using the partnership to positively influence football fans to help play their part.

Southampton Football Club’s Chief Commercial Officer, David Thomas, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome One Water to our valued family of partners.

“We are proud to be collaborating with such an innovative, forward-thinking company, both to positively impact our own sustainability strategy and also to support the life-changing work that they do around the world.”

Paul Vita, Managing Director of The One Brand, said: “It was clear from our first meeting that we had found a partner who genuinely shared our values across the wider sustainability and ethical piece.

“It’s great to be working with a club with a clear vision for the future, and we look forward to working with them over the coming years.”
