Silverstone Soccer tournament to raise funds for local hospice

Businesses from across Northamptonshire are being urged to don their football boots and take part in a charity football tournament organised by car and van leasing specialist Silverstone Fleet Management.

Silverstone Soccer five-a-side fun will take place on Sunday 15th August at Daventry Town Football Club, to raise money for Cynthia Spencer Hospice.

Ryan Bishop, Sales Manager at Silverstone Fleet Management, is organising the event again this year, after a hugely successful first event in February 2020 – just before the pandemic hit.

Ryan – a self-confessed football fanatic – decided to use his local business contacts and love of football to raise much needed funds for the hospice, the company’s Charity of the Year.

He also previously spearheaded the incredible #Sing4Cynthia social media campaign, which saw people from across the local business community film themselves singing songs and upload them to LinkedIn with the hashtag #Sing4Cynthia and then pledging money to a Just Giving page and nominating two other people to take part.

“We are proud to support Cynthia Spencer Hospice as much as we possibly can,” said Ryan. “The Silverstone Soccer event was so much fun last year and raised a substantial amount a money that can really make a huge difference to the hospice and its incredible work. We are thrilled to be able to bring it back again this summer and hope that the business community will once again rally for this deserving cause.”

With space limited to 16 teams only, Ryan is encouraging local businesses to sign up . The price per team is £200 which includes your own business named football shirt included for each player. Each team needs seven players.

Trophies will be awarded at the end of the tournament to the winning team, runners up and player of the tournament, which hopes to raise £5000.

Nina Gandy, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, said: “The football event in 2020 was the last live fundraising event held by a local business for Cynthia Spencer before the pandemic. When the event returns in August, it will be one of the first events to bring the local business community back together!

“The team did a fantastic job running the event in 2020 and when it returns in August there will be lots of additional ways to get involved as well as playing on the day. The team continue to support the charity in a variety of ways and this event should definitely be one to sign up for!”
