Local cancer charity, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, are delighted to announce that they have formed a 5 year partnership with DM Recruitment from 2020 – 2025 having met the company at Shropshire BizFest in September 2019.
The recruitment firm, which operates across Shropshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, and Powys, will be supporting several local charities over a 5-year period. DM Recruitment Director, Stuart Danks, said it was a way of giving back to the communities in the region where they work.
Naomi Atkin, Chief Executive Officer at Lingen Davies said, “We are excited to have formed this relationship with DM Recruitment. Knowing that we will receive financial donations from them over the next 5 years allows us to plan future developments more securely. As needs for access to cancer services across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales grow, we are ambitious to develop the facilities across this area that make a positive difference to lives of those people who need them”. She added that “from our initial conversations with DM Recruitment we have been able to meet with Stuart Danks on a couple of occasions, including taking him on a tour of the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where Stuart was able to see how the money we raise is invested in equipment, staffing, services, and community programmes. Stuart was then happy to support something local to the areas in which his business is based, and that of both the employers and employees he works with in terms of his recruitment business.”
For 40 years, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund have raised money to help bring cancer services to the local area of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales. Currently, on average 300 people visit the cancer centre, per day, based at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for diagnosis and treatment. Beyond that, people can also participate in community programmes across the large geographical area and become involved in raising awareness of the charity. With current statistics predicting that 1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer in their lifetime, the need for growth and development of these services is evident and increasing donations from the local community will help this.
