Organisers of Shrewsbury Krazy Races have announced an exclusive park & ride service to ferry spectators to and from The Quarry when the event takes place later this month.
The partnership with Minsterley Motors means visitors can be transported directly to the West Midlands biggest free to attend Soap-box event from the Oxon or Meole Brace car parks every 15 minutes throughout the day from 9am on Sunday, 29th May.
Shrewsbury Krazy Races is likely to be the wackiest event in Shrewsbury this year as teams battle it out in their unique go-kart soapboxes to be the best – while helping to raise cash for charity along the way. The event plays host to thousands of spectators who enthusiastically watch the karts speed down a track in The Quarry, consisting of chicanes, obstacles, water features and more.
Danny Scoffin, Shrewsbury Krazy Races Head of Marketing, said: “We are delighted to welcome Minsterley Motors on board as our partner to look after our park & ride spectators on May 29th.
“It’s an exclusive arrangement and will see regular trips running to and from The Quarry during the course of the day. Visitors simply catch the bus from either of the car parks, at Oxon or Meole Brace and then just sit back and enjoy the ride.
“The service will take them to the venue, meaning people don’t have to think about parking and walking to The Quarry and then, after enjoying a wonderful day’s entertainment, they will be ferried back to the car parks, which will close at 7.30pm.
“We are passionate about working with local Shropshire businesses so are delighted to be partnering up with Minsterley Motors who do so much for the local area. Our exclusive Krazy Park & Ride will bring the people of Shropshire right to the gate of our event making us accessible for everyone.
“The fare will be £2.50 for adults while under 16s can travel free – it’s a great offer and we anticipate a lot of interest.”
Shrewsbury Krazy Races is returning to town after a two year break due to Covid restrictions. The event, last held in 2019 attracted 17,500 spectators, raised more than £20,000 for local charities and won best New event across the U.K.
This year’s event will see over 20 teams in the race with a knockout style competition and trophies going to ‘fastest winner’, ‘best dressed’, ‘most innovative design’ and more.
Krazy Races, a Sarah Belcher Events company production, is working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support in Shrewsbury once again following the success of the 2019 event.
Krazy Races will also be heading to Northwich on June 26th before the final event of the year in Wolverhampton City Centre on August 21st.
