Shrewsbury business celebrating Christmas lights switch-on

A Shrewsbury insurance broker is throwing open its doors to celebrate the town’s Christmas lights switch-on with a range of free activities.

Howden Insurance, in High Street, will be open tomorrow evening (Wednesday 22 November) when the town centre’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.

Chris Beane, Howden Shrewsbury branch manager, said a variety of things would be on offer to complement the activities taking place in the town.

“The Christmas lights switch-on is always a lovely evening in the town centre so we wanted to open late and join in the celebrations,” he said.

“We will be providing free balloon modelling for the kids and handing out festive nibbles and mulled wine.

“Apart from anything else, our office will be a comfortable place for a rest and a warm if the weather is unkind, which it often is at that time of year!

“It’s another chance to meet clients old and new, and give something back to the community – we hope plenty of people come along and enjoy the night.”

Howden is the new name for A-Plan Insurance, which has been in Shrewsbury High Street since 2015, and joined the Howden Group two years ago.

Dedicated to a people-first ethos, the new name reflects the local branch’s part in the Howden family, while maintaining the same great people and service the community has come to enjoy from the branch.
