A talented Scottish woman who has been hand knitting since she was three years old and selling the baby items she creates, has traded her needles for a cutting-edge machine to launch an ethical environmental high end knitwear brand.
Catriona Nairn, who lives in Renton, has been hand knitting for 60 years and has produced baby clothing for her loyal customers on a part-time basis under the name Bonny Baby Knitting. But now to take her business and brand to the next level she has bought a state-of-the-art knitting machine and launched the business and website FineKnits4U which will cater for adults and children and incorporate the luxury collection, Watson & Nairn.
Based in Scotland FineKnits4U provides the highest quality long-lasting products, with the lowest impact on the environment and a focus on sustainability.
Catriona said: “Production methods are such that small or larger quantities of high-quality knitwear can be made to suit your needs. We can cater to individuals looking for a one-off product as well as companies wanting to develop their own collections.
“We have our own workshop in Scotland, in which we use a Knitdream digital knitting machine, and we hand finish every garment to ensure the high quality and attention to detail our discerning customers expect.”
This local, sustainable, production methods used means Catriona and her company can create a variety of different patterns and designs and even make one off and bespoke items to customers own designs or colour scheme or to include an organisation’s logo.
Catriona said, “We love working alongside other organisations and are more than happy to discuss customising garments for companies, schools, sporting organisations, charitable associations etc. Our production method allows us to provide you with no minimum order quantities in a range of products including scarves, shawls, blankets, neck warmers etc.”
