Sarimah Ibrahim: Rising Irish born star with dreams of following in the footsteps of Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh, the iconic Asian actress, has an illustrious career spanning over three decades and was the first Asian woman to clinch the Best Actress Oscar for her breath-taking performance in “Everything Everywhere All At Once.”

Yeoh’s achievements have undoubtedly put Malaysia on the global cinematic map. While there have been talented Malaysian actors making their mark, none have achieved the level of global recognition that Yeoh has and Sarimah Ibrahim, an Irish-born Malaysian actress and broadcaster, is ready to take the entertainment world by storm and make her mark in the UK and Hollywood.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Henry Golding, who became an overnight sensation thanks to his role in “Crazy Rich Asians,” and the unparalleled Michelle Yeoh, Sarimah is poised to continue the legacy of Malaysian stars in the international film industry.

With a dozen film, theatre and TV roles under her belt she made history as the first-ever female host on Disney Channel Asia and became the inaugural host of ‘The Biggest Loser: Asia’s debut season. She is the only Malaysian female celebrity featured on CNN’s Go travel feature, proving that her star is on the rise.

Her determination and passion for the craft of acting have led her to train with renowned instructors, including the distinguished Mel Churcher, who also coached Michelle Yeoh and she is currently being coached personally by fellow Irish-born Gerry Grennell, the go-to guru for some of the world’s best talent; Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Cillian Murphy, Oscar Isaac, Brian Cox, Sean Penn, Pedro Pascal, and Paul Mescal all work with this world-leading acting coach.

She has also received acting coaching from Joseph Pearlman, and from The Lee Strasberg Institute.

But Sarimah’s talents extend far beyond acting. Like her role model Yeoh, she is a martial artist with a black belt in Karate, an advanced scuba diver, and a certified Pilates instructor.

In addition to her artistic endeavours, Sarimah is a committed advocate for mental health. She holds the distinction of being Malaysia’s first-ever Body Shop Ambassador, a testament to her influence and appeal in the world of beauty and environmentalism. She regularly shares mental health content with her social media community.

Sarimah’s family background is a rich tapestry of cultures – her mother hails from Kilkenny, Ireland, while her father is from Johor, Malaysia. This diverse heritage has influenced her artistic journey in unique and powerful ways.
