A Nottingham firm has struck a distribution deal with a Spanish robotics company that is set to catapult the UK goods transportation sector firmly into the future.

Aerocom (UK) Ltd has signed a partnership deal with robotics manufacturer Kivnon to distribute its highly advanced industrial automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in the UK.

The futuristic machines provide a range of automated round-the-clock duties such as lifting, stacking and transporting of goods in a variety of industrial or commercial settings.

Kivnon is one of the leaders in its field, having operated since 2009 and currently exporting its AGVs to 17 countries around the world.

Tom Hughes, managing director of Aerocom (UK), said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with Kivnon.

“These are exciting times. Kivnon’s automated machines have been designed to revolutionise the transportation of goods and navigate within a range of working environments. It’s like watching yesterday’s science fiction become today’s reality.”

Kivnon describes its AGVs as being “reliable, safe, easy to use and connect”. The manufacturer offers a range of features for easy diagnostics and online battery systems checks, allowing the AGV systems to be operational around the clock.

The AGVs’ integrated ability to recognise the space around them, ensures they work in harmony with employees.

Jetting off to Spain to seal the deal with the Barcelona-based manufacturer, Tom added that the ethos and foundations of the two companies align.

Both family firms, the businesses have a customer-first approach, with an eye on fostering talent and excellent staff wellbeing, while developing the business for a sustainable future.

Since Aerocom (UK) Ltd was acquired from the German-based company Aerocom GmbH & Co. by chairman John Hughes in 2000, the firm has gone from strength to strength.

Hot on the heels of this latest deal, the firm recently secured a major contract with the NHS to install extensive pneumatic tube systems in Bristol Royal Infirmary. It also supplies fire suppression devices and other robotic guided vehicle systems.

Among Aerocom UK’s customers are Airbus, Nissan, Warner Bros., Cineworld, Aldi and Arla Foods.

Tom added: “Our expanding portfolio of quality products really puts our customers in the driving seat. This latest deal, the partnership distribution deal with Kivnon, is great news for UK customers.”
