Ryan Kavanagh has been promoted to head of nursing services at London Vet Specialists
A leading veterinary referral centre in London has appointed a new head of nursing services to help lead the recruitment and shape the future of its service.
Ryan Kavanagh will be a familiar face to many clients at Linnaeus-owned London Vet Specialists (LVS), which is central London’s only multidisciplinary veterinary referral centre, as he was previously clinical nursing manager.
In his new role, Ryan will support, develop and lead the nursing team at LVS, while also providing input into key developments in the business, together with ensuring patient care is provided to the highest standard possible.
Ryan graduated with a first-class honours Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Nursing in 2015 from the University College Dublin in Ireland.
He remained rotating within the university veterinary hospital for two years following graduation before moving to Dubai to take up a role in a busy 24-hour veterinary centre.
In 2020, Ryan relocated to London to work as a senior nurse in a first opinion veterinary hospital before joining LVS as clinical nursing manager in 2022.
Ryan said: “I am very excited to see London Vet Specialists expand into a new state-of-the-art multi-disciplinary hospital in 2024 and lead our nursing team through this transition.
“Our service offering and patient care capabilities will grow substantially, presenting fantastic opportunities for our veterinary nurses and patient care assistants to develop their knowledge and skills across a wide range of specialist disciplines.”
As well as being registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Ryan also regularly partakes in CPD to further his education.
His particular clinical interests include exotics, nutrition, wound care and ultrasonography.
Ryan added: “It is also my personal passion to maintain equity, diversity and inclusivity at the heart of our culture, which is supported and celebrated throughout our team at LVS and Linnaeus.”
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys Irish dancing, which he took up to reconnect with his home and culture.
LVS is a multidisciplinary veterinary referral facility which offers expert care in anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery.
