Recycle your Christmas tree for charity

What do you do with your real Christmas tree once all the festivities are over? Burn it? Let it rot in your garden? Why not let KEMP Hospice collect and recycle it for you in return for a donation? This is the second year that the Mason Road charity have run this event with all the funds raised enabling them to continue their work in supporting individuals, families and carers experiencing life limiting conditions and through bereavement.

If you live in one of the following postcodes: DY10 1, DY10 2, DY10 3, DY10 4, DY11 5, DY11 6, DY11 7, DY12 1, DY12 2, DY13 0, DY13 8, and DY13 9 then you can book your collection at: www.kemphospice.org.uk/christmastree. Working in partnership with Rosie’s Ground Maintenance & Firewood and generously sponsored by Attwood Funerals, KEMP will come and collect your real Christmas tree between 9am on Thursday 9th January and 5pm on Sunday 12th January 2020 for a donation of your choice (recommended minimum donation of £10 per real tree). Once the trees have been collected they will be taken to Rosie’s where they will be ‘chipped’ and used for a variety of purposes.

Not only will you help the environment by allowing KEMP to recycle your old tree, but they may also be able to make additional funds from the sale of the chipped pine tree too. Every penny raised goes directly back into the work of KEMP Hospice.

Cathy Sloan, Head of Fundraising for KEMP said, “Last year, we were able to collect and recycle over 250 trees, but we’d love to be able to double that figure this year. In order for this to happen we need people to book their collection slot on our website. But we also desperately need volunteers to collect the trees in their vans and take them to Rosie’s. If you’re a local business or an individual and you can spare some time during the 9th – 12th January then please do get in touch by calling 01562 756066. We’d love to hear from you. Thank you.”
