Quit that habit with these tips

Smoking used to be glorified in the 1960s on TV adverts and billboards all over the UK, but we know better now. With 60 years of research since 1960, we are sure of the risks of smoking cigarettes, and while the governments around the world are making money from the tax on cigarettes, smoking will always be in society. It’s an addictive habit and it’s something that most people can’t stop once they start. When it comes to deciding to quit, it’s a huge decision and it’s a big battle that you have ahead of you – but that doesn’t mean that you can’t fight that battle and win!

The risks of second and third hand smoke are high, and when you are making the choice to smoke heavily you are draining not only your health and your life, but your bank account. Switching out for vaping is often the best option for most people and as Time2Vape have a great selection of batteries for vaping devices, you can find a way to swap one habit that can kill for another that keeps your hands busy. Tobacco continues to be the leading cause of death and disease – completely preventable death and disease – in the U.S. The good news is that you don’t have to let this be your life. You can quit that habit of yours, and you can do it with the tips below.

  • Pick a day. You can quit at any time, but it’s always better to choose to quit on your own terms rather than wait for a lung cancer diagnosis. So, once you have decided to go ahead and quit, you should set a date to do it. The night before, smoke your last cigarette and be grateful that you get to choose to quit before your health chooses for you. You can choose whether you use this date to start your cold turkey journey, or whether this is the date you swap to vaping over cigarettes. There is a lot of research out there to follow and you should speak to your doctor to know which is the best way to do it.
  • Tell everyone. Your friends, family and coworkers need to know that you plan to quit so that you have support right through this journey of yours. They will be your support system and you will need them when you are going through this. Withdrawal is not a joke, and you need support. Tell everyone around you so that you can create a support bubble for yourself while you get through the hardest first few days.
  • Get some therapy. While you surround yourself with friends, make sure that you have the professionals on your side, too. Going cold turkey is great and all, but you need support and as cigarette smoking is used as a crutch, you may find that you need some help with the underlying reasons behind smoking in the first place. Therapy can help you with this piece of the puzzle.
  • Find a replacement. For some people, the early days of giving up smoking makes them feel like their hands are empty and they’re not doing anything with them. Find a way to keep your hands busy so you don’t reach for another cigarette. Some people turn to vaping, other people choose to knit or find a hobby to replace the smoking they’ve been doing.
