Put your firm on course for a healthier future

Rachel Linstead

Firms and professionals are being urged to snap-up places at a high-value conference, after its organiser revealed it will now feature eight expert speakers!

Energy Sparker Rachel Linstead of Firecracker is encouraging companies to explore ways of creating happier and healthier workforces by making the most of ideas and advice on offer in her inaugural Lincolnshire Workplace Health & Wellbeing Conference on May 14, 2019.

“With the annual cost to the UK economy of work-related illness having reached about £15 billion in 2016/17 (a figure that does not include the cost of long-term illness or cancer), my event aims to motivate businesses to take action now,” said Rachel.

“I am keen to highlight the true annual cost of this rising trend.  I don’t think managers realise that 26.8 million working days were lost to work-related ill health in 2017/18.  More than half of these (57 per cent) were linked to work-related stress, depression and anxiety.  That is shocking.  These issues can be tackled.

“Employers have a responsibility to keep their staff safe and well under The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. Those who take this issue seriously enjoy increased success and see a clear return on their investment,” added Rachel.

The Conference is taking place at The Showroom, off Tritton Road in Lincoln, and runs from 8am to 4pm.

An amazing list of speakers have thrown their weight behind this event. In order of appearance, they are:

Chris Blevins of The Askefield Project. This is a care farm in Friskney, which offers support to anyone over 18 who has a mental health condition.  Conference tickets will include a £5 donation to the Project.

Delegates will also hear from Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable Bill Skelly – currently national lead for performance management.  He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and was recently accepted as a Chartered Director.

Selenity Chief Executive Officer Neil Everatt, sees himself as a motivational and fun leader of a local technology company.  His talk, titled “Fun Is A Great Strategy” echoes his belief that if you employ the right people, they’ll deliver good results because they want to and not because they are being dictated to.

Neil will be followed by Knapton Wright Managing Director Alex Wright who firmly believes that people need to be at the heart of everything a business does – a strategy he applies to ensuring his team is happy and productive, as well as to his clients’ marketing activities. His talk is called: “Bigger Business, Bigger Budgets, Better Workplace Health and Wellbeing.”

Lincolnshire Credit Union Chief Executive Officer Sarah Moseley has a fundamental belief that financial capability is a vital ingredient in people’s overall wellbeing.  She actively promotes the difference that being financially resilient can make to everyone’s lives.

Her talk: “Staff Financial Wellbeing ….The Bottom Line for Employers” will focus on how financial wellbeing impacts on workplace productivity and absenteeism.

Laser Red and Spiral Media Chief Executive Officer Liam O’Leary, who never thought he would be heading-up two edgy digital companies, is passionate about sharing the power of culture, its long-term effects and the positive impact it has on the people, profit and passion of any business.

His talk: “Culture Is The Lifeblood of Your Business” will see Liam talk about what he has done within his organisations that breeds engagement, productivity and success.

Sleep behaviour and environment expert, The Sleep Geek, James Wilson completes the line-up of “invited experts.” James will talk about the importance of getting a good night’s sleep.  He works with organisations ranging from Blue Chip corporates to sports teams and was one of the experts on Channel 4’s series The Secrets of Sleep.

Finally, event organiser Rachel Linstead, who has worked with organisations for more than 12 years, will wrap-up a thought-provoking day with an encouraging message in her talk: “We Are All Athletes in the Business World – How to Win the Gold Medal in Workplace Health and Wellbeing.”

Rachel, who has a Masters in Workplace Health and Wellbeing and who is a qualified nutritionist, will be using her wheel of wellbeing, culture and performance to show how different areas of a business are interlinked and how they impact on workers’ wellbeing.

The conference, which is being sponsored by Chartered Accountant Nicholsons, Langleys Solicitors and Selenity, will include refreshment breaks, time for networking and the chance to visit a range of exhibitors’ stands.

People keen to attend are encouraged to act fast and take advantage of an Early Bird offer (which ends on Friday Night, March 15) which allows them to buy tickets for £75, plus VAT.  After that tickets will cost £95 plus VAT and will be available to May 10.  Tickets can be bought online by visiting: www.lincswhwconference.co.uk.
