Pebbles expands commitment to transforming lives with acquisition

Chris Strong

Residential childcare specialist Pebbles has revealed its acquisition of BDT Care Solutions, which operates four homes for children and young people in South Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway.

The deal sees Pebbles, which is one of the UK’s leading providers of therapeutic and bespoke residential care, further strengthen its commitment to supporting children and young people to overcome traumatic experiences and thrive.

Pebbles CEO Chris Strong said BDT Care Solutions shared the company’s commitment to providing an individualised approach to help children and young people.

“We are very proud of our track record in providing therapeutic and bespoke residential childcare and education in homes across the UK. BDT Care Solutions aligns seamlessly with our mission to create a positive impact in the lives of children and young people and this acquisition helps extend our reach of providing safe and loving spaces for them to call home.

“We are excited to welcome BDT into the Pebbles family and continue our journey of providing transformative care.”

In addition to the acquisition of BDT Care Solutions, Pebbles has announced the opening of two new homes during 2024. One, a single occupancy residence in Leeds, and the other, a two-bed residency in Pontefract, Yorkshire.

Mr Strong said: “These new homes further enhance Pebbles’ capacity to provide safe and supportive environments to children and young people while also providing exciting career advancement opportunities to the existing team.”

Pebbles is also expanding its education provision, with plans to open a new school in the North East by the end of 2024, and another in the North West in early 2025. This expansion will enable more young people to benefit from Pebbles’ ground-breaking Adapt Learning model, which has already transformed the learning journeys of pupils in its two existing Scottish schools.

Mr Strong added: “With these developments, Pebbles’ offering will soon include 51 loving homes and four independent schools across Scotland and England, solidifying its position as a leading provider of therapeutic residential childcare and education in the UK.

“2024 promises to be a year of growth and achievement at Pebbles for both its young people and its dedicated team of professionals.”

Pebbles launched the Adapt Learning model specifically to support young people who had faced significant interruptions to their education.

The model, which provides a more dynamic and inclusive approach to learning, focuses on academic enrichment, engagement and social, emotional and mental health.
