The UK’s leading early careers support service, Pathway CTM, has partnered with Sony Music in a national brand awareness initiative designed to improve understanding of career pathways into the music industry.
Running until March 2026, the partnership focuses on equipping teachers, students and parents with the information they need to better support young people interested in music careers. The collaboration aims to dispel myths and widen access to one of the UK’s most exciting and competitive creative sectors.
As part of the programme, Pathway CTM and Sony Music have launched a UK-wide teacher survey, capturing insights from educators on what they currently know about the music industry, where the gaps in understanding lie and what resources would help them support their students more effectively.
Pathway CTM will also be working with Sony Music staff from across the business to create bitesize, myth-busting video content hosted on the Pathway CTM Teacher Zone platform. These short clips will offer insights into different roles, career routes and realities of working in the music industry, providing teachers with trusted, easy-to-use resources they can share with their students.
Three webinars will be held over the course of the partnership, offering students, educators and families a deeper look at the industry and opportunities within it. These online events will provide a rare chance to connect directly with professionals from across the Sony Music team.
Chris McNamara, founder and CEO of Pathway CTM, said: “We’re so excited to be working with Sony Music – an iconic brand that so many young people admire, but often don’t know how to engage with as a potential employer.
“This partnership is about opening up that world, breaking down barriers and giving schools and families the tools they need to help students make informed choices about their future in music.
“Sony Music is taking an incredibly proactive and thoughtful approach to supporting education and career awareness, and we’re proud to be their partner on this journey.”
With a focus on underrepresented talent and equitable access, Pathway CTM works with over 50 leading employers across sectors, from finance and law to media and tech, delivering career events, mentoring and high-quality resources that help students from diverse backgrounds take confident first steps into the world of work.
Sony Music joins a growing list of forward-thinking organisations, including the FCA, PwC and Barclays, committed to supporting the next generation of talent.
