North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) is throwing open its doors to anyone considering their next steps in education, training or employment at a series of up-coming open events.
Whether you’re interested in starting an apprenticeship, are thinking about changing career or developing new skills, or simply want to discover what opportunities are available, NWSLC is inviting prospective students of all ages and backgrounds to come along on Thursday 15 October 2026, between 4pm and 7pm, and experience college life first-hand across all campuses.
Prospective students are invited to explore NWSLC’s campuses in Nuneaton, Wigston, Hinckley, the MIRA Technology Institute (MTI), and Harrowbrook Campus and discover the courses and training opportunities available to them. NWSLC’S new state-of-the-art Grayson Place campus will be open for prospective students to visit at an open event in November.
Visitors will be able to tour the campuses, speak directly to expert tutors about different course areas and get advice on finding the right route for their ambitions. The College’s Apprenticeship Team will also be available to discuss opportunities to earn while learning, while adults considering returning to education can visit the Adult Education Hub to find out about options for gaining qualifications, upskilling, retraining or pursuing a new interest.
Marion Plant OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC, said: “Choosing what to do next is a big decision, and sometimes you need the opportunity to see a college, meet the people who will be teaching you and ask questions before you know what feels right.
“Our open events are designed to make that process as welcoming and straightforward as possible. Whether you are soon to be a school leaver, an adult looking to retrain or upskill, someone interested in an apprenticeship, or you are starting to think ahead to September 2027, I would encourage you to come and talk to us.
“There are so many different routes into education, training and employment, and our teams are here to help people find the one that works for them.”
The October event is also an ideal opportunity for Year 11 students and their families who are starting to consider their options for September 2027. Visiting early gives prospective students the chance to compare courses, understand entry requirements and get a feel for the environment before making their choices.
Further Open Events for the 2026/27 academic year will take place on:
- Saturday 21 November 2026, 9am–12pm
- Thursday 25 February 2027, 4pm–7pm
- Thursday 24 June 2027, 4pm–7pm
NWSLC will also host Student Experience Days on February 25 and June 24, 2027, giving eligible applicants the opportunity to experience their chosen courses in person. Booking information will be sent to eligible students closer to the events.
Higher Education Open Events will also provide opportunities for those considering university-level study at NWSLC to explore courses, meet tutors and learn more about the support available, with dates to be confirmed.
NWSLC is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted with the highest accolade of ‘Strong for Skills’ recognising the college’s positive contribution and responsiveness to meeting the local skills need, and ‘Outstanding’ for student Behaviour and Attitudes.
