Nottingham professional services firm welcomes three diligent chartered accountant trainees

L-R: Luke Wilson, Jack Lee and Alexander Nowab, Chartered Accountant Trainees at UHY

Three university graduates have recently joined UHY Hacker Young’s Nottingham office as they embark on a career in accountancy. The appointments form part of UHY’s commitment to employing local and upcoming talent in the region.

Luke Wilson, Jack Lee and Alexander Nowab have all joined the firm as chartered accountant trainees, bolstering UHY’s audit and accounts team. They are supporting the firm as it continues to grow to meet the increased demand for its corporate and private financial client services.

Luke Wilson joined after graduating with a degree in mathematics with statistics from the University of Nottingham. He said: “I wanted to work at a firm that had a roster of well-known clients while being able to get to know everyone across a close-knit team. At UHY the firm is well-sized to achieve both aims.

“Working with lots of clients in different sectors means that the audit will be different each time. It gives me the opportunity to learn what sectors I like to work with, so that I may choose to specialise in them in the future.”

Fellow trainee Jack Lee graduated in June 2021 with a first-class masters degree in chemistry from the University of Manchester. He said: “I wanted to work at a firm with a diverse range of clients in several different sectors. UHY, therefore, with its array of sector specialisms provided the ideal setting for me to begin my accounting education.

“I really enjoy the variety of work and learn something new each day, which keeps it interesting and challenging. At UHY, I also like the wider social opportunities to get involved in – on my first day I attended an inter-firm rounders competition which was a lot of fun.”

Alexander Nowab graduated from the University of York having studied accounting and business finance with management. Alexander said: “I’m enjoying the level of responsibility and trust given to graduates at UHY. I feel very involved and challenged and like I’m making a difference. I appreciate the opportunity and know that this is a great start to my career.”

James Simmonds, Partner at UHY Nottingham, said: “We’re delighted to have welcomed Luke, Jack and Alexander as our latest graduate trainees. Investing in future talent is so important, and as a business we are proud to have a regular stream of employment opportunities open to graduates – helping them to launch their careers at UHY.

“In the short time our latest graduate hires have been with us, they have all shown to be extremely diligent and confident young professionals who are eager to develop their skills and knowledge of chartered accountancy. Through bolstering our team, our graduates enable us to continue delivering a high-quality service to our clients across the East Midlands.”
