New peer network for business owners who want to make an impact in 2021

It’s estimated that a new sustainable economy centred on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals could be worth $12 trillion. So how can Business Leaders take advantage of this to grow their impact, income and audience without experiencing burnout and grow back better in 2021?

Four Business Owners from North West think they have found the solution.

When the World Health Organisation classified occupational burnout as a disease, Hannah Cox of betternotstop knew that she had to find a way to help business leaders grow their impact without negatively affecting the wellbeing of themselves or their employees. Originally her company had offered travel experiences and trade support but when Covid hit she knew she needed to find a new way to support the growing number of stressed out Business Leaders in the UK.

More than half (57%) of all UK employees feel worn out by work, whilst half a million people in the UK now suffer from work-related stress. There’s a general rising trend of employees being overworked and having poor work-life balance, which is undermining UK job quality.

At the beginning of 2020 Hannah started a peer to peer accountability group where she had close regular contact with several other Business Leaders, all with completely different goals and ideas that she could support with her own advice and experience and vice versa. It’s shown that a person’s chances of success in meeting their goals increases to 95% when they build in ongoing meetings with their partners to check in on their progress, which is an integral part of the groups success in the last 12 months.

After discovering the lack of holistic support for Business Leaders wanting to be more sustainable Hannah created a team to help her launch the Better Business Network – Lee Ali, Founder of a multi-award winning global exhibition engagement company Expo Stars, Ben Thorne Chartered Environmentalist and sustainability leader at Enriched Horizons and Kate Clarke a freelance Chartered Marketer and Social Media consultant.

The Better Business Network is at its core a peer to peer network that connects and supports Business Leaders so that they can create a bigger impact. Features of the network includes:

  • Placed in a peer to peer accountability group of up to ten other business owners facilitated by their team
  • Access to an online slack community and weekly virtual events with the wider network
  • Help creating sustainable metrics in your own business and create impact through the projects and campaigns we support collectively
  • Full transparency in how your membership fees are spent, with money reinvested in additional tailored expert support made possible by working together
  • A host of other benefits based on your membership level

The money individuals invested in the network is used to directly help their businesses grow, provide bespoke support and help Business Leaders work towards attaining the UN Sustainable Development Goals while looking after their own wellbeing.

Quarterly reports are issued to keep all the money transparently spent, with money invested directly back into the businesses that are members. The Better Business Network team are hands on to support in curating wellness programmes, one to one coaching and checking in on individuals on a weekly or monthly basis.

Working collectively the network’s revenue is also used to donate money to high impact nonprofits via 1% for the Planet. They hope to raise £100,000 in the first 12 months and also to campaign for government policy change.

Campaigning for systemic change in government policies can have a huge impact on the social and environmental impact that businesses make. The Better Business Network team believes the government should help businesses that are trying to be more sustainable and compete in a fairer market.
