The new owner of a much-loved independent opticians in Derbyshire has said patients can expect ‘clinical excellence at every turn’ as she takes the reins.
Dr Farra Hargreaves said she is looking forward to putting her own stamp on Oakwood Eyecare Centre, where she has worked for over two years, having succeeded previous owners Tom and Liz Jackson who had overseen the practice for 32 years.
She said: “Generations of patients have relied on Tom and Liz for their eye care and it is a huge privilege to have the opportunity to follow in their footsteps and ensure their proud legacy continues for years to come.
“Having spent years collecting letters after my name, I’m very clinically minded and I’m absolutely committed to offering patients the very best care. That doesn’t just mean vision care either, our eyes are a window to our wider health and I want to make sure everything from blood pressure to mental wellbeing is considered.
“We have a very health-conscious customer base and we work closely with our local hospitals to ensure clinical excellence in every aspect of our care. All of our appointments are a minimum of 35 minutes, and often 40-45 minutes, so no stone is left unturned.”
Tom and Liz formally waved goodbye to the practice in December last year but will still be seen around the practice in Wayfaring Road, Oakwood, as well as sister practices in Alvaston and Kimberley from time to time.
Dr Hargreaves said the practice will continue to offer a wide range of designer eyewear from brands including Oakley, Stepper, Ted Baker and Ray-Ban, with the team continually refreshing their line-up of suppliers to ensure patients have access to on-trend frames from the big brands as well as unique, more bespoke independent brands.
The practice celebrated its 32nd anniversary on Valentine’s Day.
