National Express Bus has raised over £9,300 for eight different charities during 2019.

The charities were selected by staff at each of the bus operator’s local depots and travelshops across the West Midlands, with many of the chosen causes close to their own hearts.

Hundreds of National Express staff from across Coventry, Birmingham and the Black Country have worked hard throughout the year to raise vital funds for their chosen charities, smashing over £9,000 in total.

Cara Higgs, UK Community Engagement Manager at National Express, said: “National Express is proud to be a part of the communities we serve and we’re delighted to be able to give something back to some great causes.

“With the help of generous and kind donations from our colleagues and our customers, we’re proud to have raised a fantastic amount of money for those causes that are close to our hearts.”

Charities that were nominated and supported during 2019 were:

  • Acorn’s Children’s Hospital
  • Birmingham Children’s Hospital
  • Prostate Cancer
  • CLIC Sargent
  • Myton Hospice
  • West Midlands Air Ambulance
  • Walkden Ward at Sandwell Hospital
  • Mind

Over the recent Yuletide period there were even special Christmas buses out on local services, complete with all the festive trimmings (decorations; not the edible kind!) for a final push on fundraising efforts. And some customers were delighted to see Santa driving their bus instead of his usual sleigh.
