The Mintridge Foundation has appointed two new trustees, including Tom Cardwell (pictured above).

The Mintridge Foundation, a leading sports mentorship charity, has appointed a duo of new trustees to its board. Bringing extensive experience to the charity, The Mintridge Foundation is confident that the two new appointments will support its ambitious growth plans for 2022 and beyond.

Harnessing the power of positive sporting role models, the Foundation provides school children across the country with long-term mentorship to nurture their talents and wellbeing through sport. Earlier this year, the charity celebrated kicking off its 400th sporting mentorship programme, with other highlights including published a children’s book celebrating the inspirational life stories of positive sporting role models.

Finance Director for the London and South East Division for McCarthy Stone, the country’s leading retirement developer, Karrie Bassett joins the Foundation as Trustee with a wealth of knowledge and a lifelong passion for sport and the value it provides young people.

Also joining the Board of Trustees, Tom Cardwell is Managing Director of Mintridge Strategic Land; having worked across the residential, retirement and affordable housing sectors for almost two decades. A long-time supporter of amateur sports and fundraising for various charities, having participated in activities including Ride London 100, Great South Run, London to Brighton Cycle and many more.

Commenting on his appointment, Tom Cardwell said: “I am delighted to be joining the wonderful Mintridge team, as a Trustee of the Charity. I hope to use my experience and knowledge to support The Foundation in its mission to help people of all ages and backgrounds get the help and guidance they need through the power of positive sporting role models.”

The Mintridge Foundation’s team of Ambassadors consists of Olympians, Paralympians and professional sports stars from over 20 sports; including the likes of Shona McCallin MBE, Pamela Cookey, Patrick Foster and many more.

Together, they work with young people in schools, clubs and academies across the UK to nurture raw talent, increase confidence and enhance life skills, alongside increasing awareness about the importance of maintaining both mental and physical wellbeing.

Founder and Managing Director Alex Wallace added: “I’m delighted to be welcome Karrie and Tom to our Board of Trustees; we have lots of exciting projects in the pipeline for the coming weeks and months ahead, and their expertise will prove invaluable in ensuring we achieve our ambitions.

Since first launching the Foundation seven years ago, I’m so proud of the momentous growth we’ve achieved since then! It’s both my personal mission, and that of the Foundation’s, to help more children experience the benefits of an active lifestyle whilst accessing the necessary support and tools to support their development.

Since its inception 2015, the Mintridge Foundation has supported 191 schools and clubs to deliver 400 bespoke programmes – all of which can be expertly tailored to suit a variety of budgets and requirements – reaching over 70,000 young people across the country.
