A charity which provides vital care and support for children and families across the West Midlands is calling on the public to make giving back their New Year’s resolution.
Whether it be signing up for a fundraising event, becoming a volunteer or making a donation to its shops, Acorns Children’s Hospice is urging people to support their local hospice throughout 2020.
Vicki Rowles, Head of Fundraising at Acorns, said: “The start of a new year is the perfect time to think about what you can do to help others. As a charity that relies on the public to survive, we want you to make supporting Acorns your New Year’s Resolution.
“There’s a whole host of ways you can help us continue our work caring for children and families and we’ll be there to support you every step of the way.”
Fundraising is a fun way to help Acorns make every day count for life limited children and their families. Ideas can include bakes offs, car washes, fancy dress days, open gardens and quiz nights.
Supporters can join an Acorns event. With events taking place throughout the year, next on the calendar are the annual Worcester Warriors Matchday at Sixways Stadium on 15 February followed by Acorns Night at the Museum and Firewalk at Black County Living Museum on 12 March.
Volunteering with Acorns makes a real difference, whether it be at one of the charity’s three hospices or in over 50 of Acorns retail shops.
Local businesses can get behind Acorns by partnering with the charity, playing a key role in Acorns mission to provide its specialist care for every family who needs it.
And people can donate. Whether it’s a single or regular gift, all donations help Acorns continue its work. You can also donate pre-loved items to Acorns shops which are crucial for keeping their shelves fully stocked.
Vicki added: “There are lots of ways for people to give something back to Acorns in 2020. So as people take stock of their lives and plan for the year ahead, we’d be delighted if they chose to support Acorns. It will make a real difference to the children and families we help.”
Acorns Children Hospice provides specialist palliative care for babies, children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as support for their families.
It costs Acorns £27,000 each day to provide its vital care and support services from its three hospices, based in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, and in the community.
The charity relies on generous donations and fundraising by the public and local businesses for the majority of funds it needs.
