Local business owner meets Dragon

Dru Ross with Theo Paphitis

Dru Ross, founder and director of local business Big Dog Bed Company met with Theo Paphitis, to receive her award certificate for winning his Small Business Sunday scheme at the ICC Birmingham last month.

Theo Paphitis, entrepreneur, owner of Rymans and Robert Dyas amongst other businesses and a former Dragon from BBC’s Dragons Den programme, set up the scheme to support small businesses in the UK over ten years ago and there are now around 4000 sole traders and SME’s in the membership.

Dru Ross said, “It was a real surprise to be selected from the hundreds that apply to be a SBS Winner. The competition is really stiff with less that 1% of applicants being successful.” She went on to say “It has given the whole team a real boost to receive this recognition from such a successful businessman. We design and manufacture all our products in the UK and are the UK distributor for a Swedish company too and that has been recognised by Mr Paphitis and his team.”

Dru received her certificate from Mr Paphitis at the annual networking SBS Event at the ICC Birmingham which was attended by 1100 delegates.

Big Dog Bed Company makes specialist beds for dogs with compromised mobility, veterinary kennel and theatre equipment, and equine surgery mattresses.
