Leicestershire is revealed as the UK’s top county for new build developments during 2025, according to research from new homes property website, newhomesforsale.co.uk.
The data – which analysed the UK counties with the most new build developments launched during the last year – has revealed 20 were established in Leicestershire since October 2024.
West Yorkshire and Wiltshire sit in 2nd and 3rd place with both regions launching 12 new developments during 2025, followed by Devon [11] and North Yorkshire [11] to complete the top 5.
In contrast, Swansea, Northumberland and Essex recorded the lowest number of new build developments within the UK, with only 4 sites combined launched during 2025.
This data comes as new long-term plans have emerged for 10,000 homes to be built in West Leicestershire via three new connected villages set to be called Norton Heath. Under this plan, Developer – Nurton Developments – has issued a proposal for 1,730-acres of farmland at the end of Norton Juxta Twycross, to be utilised for the new development sites.
