Mark Jennings receives Global MasterCoach status
Hiring a business coach to achieve more “wealth, goals and wellbeing” is soaring in the UK, according to an expert celebrating top status with the world’s biggest coaching franchise.
Mark Jennings, who has just been made a Global MasterCoach by an international panel for ActionCOACH and is now in the top six of its most successful coaches nationwide, said the franchise took on 70 new coaches in the UK last year, a record intake.
“Coaching has always been part and parcel of the American and Australian culture, but here in the UK, business owners have tended to think, “crikey, if I need a coach, I must be a failure,” said Mark, who is based in Burbage, Leicestershire, and has clients from across the Midlands.
“But, if you think about it, if you are car mechanic running a garage, you know how to fix cars. You don’t automatically know how to run a business. A good coach will show you how to grow your wealth, help you put better systems in place, achieve personal and professional goals and, ultimately, find ways for you to spend less time in your business for a better work-life balance.
“Business owners in the UK are increasingly coming round to this way of thinking. Looking at ActionCOACH alone, of the 850 franchises across 76 countries worldwide, 240 are in the UK.”
He added that there was much uncertainty surrounding Brexit right now and he was advising his SME clients on how they could best prepare.
“We have clients who buy and sell goods abroad who are trying to get their heads around potential changes to trade at the UK border. They want to know if there are simple things they can do while we wait to see if we will leave the EU with or without a deal. For instance, they can better understand where they sit on the supply chain. They also don’t know they can apply for grants to train employees in completing customs declarations and make IT improvements.”
Being made a Global MasterCoach is a huge achievement for Mark, with only a handful of ActionCOACHes from the award-winning franchise worldwide making the grade.
“It’s been a significant goal of mine, there wasn’t just one box to tick,” said Mark, who has rapidly risen through the ranks since he traded the toolbox as a former electrical engineer for helping regional firms realise their full potential in 2011.
“You have to meet a set of tough criteria to get there, from dramatically increasing client revenue and profit to completing so many training programmes, to presenting to the coaching community at global conferences. You can’t fast track or buy your way in.”
As well as achieving Global MasterCoach status, Mark also recently won Coach of the Year for the Central Midlands at the 2019 ActionCOACH Awards for the third year in a row. One Nuneaton client alone has seen their net profits go up by 360 percent in one year. Mark started working with the security specialist in 2014.
Moreover, Mark – who made his own first million within five years – coached his portfolio of clients, based across the region but mainly focused in Leicestershire, so well that, on average, they doubled their net profits in 2017.
On top of this, 80 percent of his clients have been with Mark for over three years, including two winners of ActionCOACH’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year, an award reserved for the very best in start-up growth across its clients in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
