Leading sports broadcaster Emma Dodds joins the mission to stop the pain of EB

Emma Dodds

Renowned sports presenter and media professional, Emma Dodds, has agreed to become an ambassador for DEBRA UK, the national medical research charity and patient support organisation for people living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB).

EB is an incredibly painful genetic skin blistering condition which causes the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. DEBRA UK provides community care and support to the estimated 5,000 children and adults living with EB in the UK and invests in research to find effective drug treatments for every type of EB.

Emma, who is well-known to sports fans across the country from her presenting work, which includes TNT Sports’ Champions League, Europa, and Premier League football coverage, will be assisting the charity in many ways including the coordination and hosting of DEBRA UK events in Scotland, introducing new contacts to the charity, and using her social media channels to raise awareness of EB and DEBRA’s charitable activities. Commenting on her new role with DEBRA UK, Emma said:

“It is an honour to become an ambassador for DEBRA UK and to help with their vision for a world where no one suffers with the pain of EB. I have seen firsthand the work the charity does in public and behind the scenes and I look forward to continuing to spread the word and raise awareness of this devastating condition.”

Commenting on Emma’s appointment, DEBRA UK CEO, Tony Byrne said: “We are delighted to be able to count on Emma’s support, she is hugely talented and in demand broadcaster and we are extremely grateful that she is willing to use her free time to help bring attention to a condition that causes incredible pain to thousands of people in the UK and globally. With Emma’s support we can make more people aware of EB, and of the work we do and take another step towards a world where no one suffers with EB. Welcome to #TeamDEBRA Emma!”
