Lawyers inspire next generation with school visits

Solicitors from a Leamington Spa firm have been inspiring the next generation of legal eagles at a series of talks to students at local schools.

Members of the team at Blythe Liggins Solicitors, based in Rugby Road, visited four secondary schools and a primary school to talk to young people about their work.

Claire Kirwan, head of personal injury, visited St Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School, Warwick, while Donna Bothamley, head of wills and probate, spoke to students at Kineton High School.

Jagdeep Sandher, head of civil litigation, paid a visit to Shipston High School to speak to students about his role in law.

Members of the Blythe Liggins team also spoke to students at North Leamington School and Aylesford School in Warwick, visits which were organised in conjunction with careers service Career Seekers Direct.

Eva Harrison, CEO and founder of Career Seekers Direct Limited, said: “The team at Blythe Liggins have been keen to show their support, which is appreciated. They gave talks to students on Zoom during the Covid-19 lockdowns and told them all about their careers and the business, which helped to give students a feel for the world of work.

“Blythe Liggins’ support for in-person talks has also been great, and they have taken part in workshops which we have organised with three different secondary schools to help students develop employability skills.

“Visits and talks like these are invaluable because they give students real-life insight into the world of work and career paths which they could pursue.”

Donna Bothamley, from Blythe Liggins Solicitors, said: “Everyone in the team who has visited schools recently has found the experience so rewarding – it’s wonderful to get the chance to share your career story with young people and to answer their questions.

“Hopefully, when it comes to thinking about the career paths which they will follow, we will have inspired some of the students to consider a career in law.”
