Kidderminster marketing agency expands digital offering with two new appointments

James Lawley

Kidderminster-based marketing agency, Citizen Communication, has expanded its team with the hire of two new digital specialists.

James Lawley and Will Baker have been appointed to the positions of SEO & PPC manager and web developer respectively.

James, from Bromsgrove, has 10 years’ experience working in the digital sector, before which he worked as a finance officer for Worcestershire County Council. After leaving the council, he went on to work in a number of roles, including in-house for an independent fostering agency, before joining the Citizen team.

James’ new role will see him head up the agency’s newly formed SEO & PPC team, for which there are plans for growth. He will be responsible for pitching Citizen for new business and looking after clients’ paid advertising on Google and Facebook.

Will, from Worcester, began his career in web development in 2018 after graduating from the University of Worcester in the same year. His role at Citizen will initially involve supporting the rest of the web development team, before eventually moving onto overseeing his own project work.

The two new hires mark a pivotal moment in Citizen Communication’s growth. Currently employing 13 people, the agency has plans to continue growing its team over the next 12 months.

Charlotte Holmes, Client Services Director at Citizen Communication, said: “We are thrilled to have brought James and Will into our growing team.

“Both have been really valuable additions already and I have every confidence that they will continue to flourish.

“On behalf of the whole team, I would like to wish James and Will a very warm welcome and every success for the future.”

James Lawley, SEO & PPC manager at Citizen Communication, said: “Working for Citizen appealed to me because I saw the agency had a good mix of clients, including plenty of local businesses, and helping companies in my area to grow their online presence is something that I feel particularly passionate about.

Will Baker

“I have really enjoyed my time at the agency so far and look forward to continuing to bring new ideas and pitching for exciting new business opportunities.”

Will Baker, Web Developer at Citizen Communication, added: “After graduating from university, I looked into relevant web development jobs online and came across Citizen.

“I looked at the website and liked everything the agency stood for, so I applied and was then invited for an interview. I was delighted when I was offered the job.

“So far, I’ve mainly been focussed on supporting the other developers in any way that I can, and ultimately my goal is to grow professionally within the role and working with Citizen will offer a great opportunity to do that.”

Founded in 1987, Citizen has extensive experience and expertise in all aspects of marketing and has worked with both global FTSE 100 companies such as BT, EE and Europcar, as well as local firms and charities including Wyre Forest District Council and Bewdley Museum.
