A housebuilder has paid nearly £1m towards local services as part of its planning agreement for a new homes development which is nearing completion in Keyworth.

Miller Homes, the company building 187 homes at its Spinners Croft development off Platt Lane in the village, has now paid the final instalment of its total £933,365 contributions which are to be reinvested into the local area.

The money had been earmarked for specific groups to benefit from, via the housebuilder signing a Section 106 agreement, which forms part of the planning consent granted by Rushcliffe Borough Council to ensure local services can cope with the additional housing allocated to Keyworth.

Now, with construction work on the 187-home site set to be completed in early 2024, the final trigger point has passed for the housebuilder to commit its final funding back into Keyworth, with areas including education, health and leisure all benefiting from the money provided.

Alastair Parsons, area sales director of Miller Homes Midlands, said: “Construction work and our sales programme at Spinners Croft is nearing completion, and so we’ve now reached the time when our final contributions have been made towards the council to benefit the wider Keyworth area in line with our development of new housing.

“Miller Homes is proud to have created an attractive, sustainable development of homes to complement its surroundings in the village of Keyworth, and together with our Section 106 funding, we hope to leave a legacy behind for residents to enjoy both now and for the future.

“Our S106 contributions in the village will provide a boost to local services including South Wolds Academy, Keyworth Leisure Centre and Keyworth Primary Care Centre. We remain committed to the area far past the construction phase of our new homes and have a long-term view to supporting village life, which this funding demonstrates.

“We now look ahead to the remaining building work which is set to be completed in the coming months at Spinners Croft, with 187 homes soon to be built, sold and occupied by residents in Keyworth, which we are extremely proud to have delivered.”

Of the contributions made by the housebuilder, Miller Homes has provided £532,590 towards secondary education, while a further £172,000 has been paid towards bus-related transport improvements.

The developer has contributed £78,755 to benefit Keyworth Leisure Centre’s swimming pool, and an additional £73,160 to enhance the leisure centre’s sports hall.

Miller Homes has just five private homes remaining to be sold at the Spinners Croft development, with a mix of four and five-bedroom houses for sale, priced from £451,000.

All of the properties available for purchase at the development are now under construction, and have been released for sale, and building work on the final homes is due to be completed during the winter.

The housebuilder is also building in Nottinghamshire at its Bonington Grange development in Gedling.
