JDR Cable Systems selects Mesothelioma UK as 2019 charity

JDR Cables Systems Ltd, a global subsea cable and umbilical manufacturer, has announced that its chosen charity for 2019 will be Mesothelioma UK, a national asbestos-related cancer charity, with local support group Readley.

JDR Cables provides innovative products and services to the oil, gas and renewable energy industries, with facilities in Hartlepool and Newcastle in the north east and Littleport in Cambridgeshire.

Mesothelioma is a type of lung cancer primarily caused by exposure to asbestos and affects approximately 2,700 people in the UK each year.

As part of its commitment to supporting local communities, JDR Cable organises events year on year, to raise money in support of its respective local charities and causes. This year’s support for Mesothelioma UK will help to raise awareness of mesothelioma, support local specialist nursing units and help local support groups that give the patients and their families a lifeline, through counselling and guidance.

Fundraising events for Mesothelioma UK & Readley (formerly PRASAG) for 2019 will be held throughout the year. More details are available at: www.JDRCharityEvents.co.uk.

Christian Wain, Senior Production Engineer at JDR Cable Systems Ltd, said: “We are thrilled to have announced that JDR will be supporting fundraising for Mesothelioma UK and Readley throughout 2019. It is so important we raise a greater awareness and understanding of mesothelioma. It’s so exciting to see a number of events already planned for 2019, plus our Charity Summer Ball on Friday 26 July where everyone is most welcome.”

Liz Darlison, Head of Services at Mesothelioma UK, added: “We’re delighted that JDR Cables has chosen Mesothelioma UK and Readley, our local support group in the north east, as their chosen charity for 2019. Their support means so much to all of us and most importantly to our patients. We wish them every success in their calendar of fundraising events in 2019.”
