HSPG, the UK’s leading social impact real estate firm, has announced the appointment of a new Managing Director – Wissam Chouceir; and senior advisor Burak Varisli. The appointment of these influential figures underpins the firm’s plans for continued growth and its aim of completing its ambitious Project 2000.

Joining HSPG as Managing Director, Wissam Chouceir will work closely with the Board and lead the growth of the newly formed investment group. Wissam is taking on a key leadership role with a real opportunity to make a difference to HSPG by helping to define the direction of future growth.

Wissam has experience at WeWork, where he joined as Senior Director in 2018. He focused on strategy and operations in the real estate, finance, and sales functions. Prior to this, he spent a decade working in private equity roles with a focus on investment and development in residential and mixed-use projects across the U.S, U.K. and Europe. Wissam also sits on the Investment Committee of Network Homes, a charitable housing association providing over 20,000 affordable homes across London, Hertfordshire, and the South East.

Joining as Non-Executive Director at HSPG, Burak Varisli has completed over £1.5bn worth of transactions in residential investments, with a particular focus on affordable housing. Burak also has considerable experience as a Founding Partner at later living platforms, as well as trusted advisory roles at JLL and Avision Young Residential Capital Markets for almost ten years.

This social impact real estate expertise helps drive the mission at the core of HSPG’s work. Founded with the sole aim to end the homelessness crisis, HSPG puts social impact at the heart of all its activity.

Both appointments will strengthen HSPG’s vital work in delivering Affordable Housing to combat the UK’s chronic housing crisis. With over £650m invested in social housing since HSPG’s inception in 2015, the additions to the company’s team will build on HSPG’s track record in delivering high quality housing where it is needed most.

Wissam Chouceir, Managing Director, said: “It’s a pleasure to be joining HSPG as Managing Director and defining how we grow in the future. When I joined WeWork it was in a hyper-growth mode, giving me the experience in scaling a business and managing growth. I am very excited to use my skills and experience to help lead HSPG on this journey.”

Burak Varisli, Senior Advisor at HSPG, said: “My long-standing commitment to delivering housing which generates social impact, is mirrored in HSPG’s drive to deliver change in all areas of a community. I look forward to working with the team to develop further initiatives and support the delivery of Affordable Housing.”

Guy Horne, CEO and Co-Founder at HSPG, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Wissam and Burak to the HSPG team. Their diverse and substantial experience in the Affordable Housing sector makes them invaluable additions and we are very much looking forward to working with them. With our ambitious Project 2000 already well underway, these appointments underpin our continued plans for growth.”
