It is always useful to be organised with your finances so that you know that you will not end up in financial hardship, especially when you have a family to support.

During these unprecedented times knowing how to make your money go further is certainly useful if you feel that you are struggling to keep up.

Be Frugal and Know How To Spend Your Money Wisely

If you want to make your finances go further you need to have the ability to be strict with your money and know when you can spend it and when you really shouldn’t. Yes it can be tempting to just impulsively buy and then put it on your credit card, but it can be easy to accumulate debt this way that will be difficult to pay. Keeping a spreadsheet of your monthly direct debit payments and knowing how much cash you should realistically have after all your expenses, will help to make your money go further.

Make Sure You Have a Savings Account

Putting a little bit of money aside each week can be a great way to build up your savings. You can do this physically with a money box or with your online savings account by transferring a specific amount each week into a high yield savings account. Then by the end of the year you will be surprised at how much you have been able to save which can go towards buying a treat for yourself or for your next holiday. The more you can get into this habit the more you can save which will always be useful in case you need that money for an emergency.

Set Out a Clear Plan To Repay Your Debts

Given the current economic climate with everyday living costs soaring it is likely that you have relied upon your credit card more often than usual. When you have debt repayments to pay it can be difficult to keep track of your outgoings and really analyse your financial savings. Asking for some IVA advice can be a really useful solution to help you manage your payment plans. It will enable you to discuss your debt with a professional financial advisor who will be able to provide you with useful solutions to make your repayments.

Reevaluate Monthly Expenses

If you have several direct debits set up that go out of your account on different days of the month then it could be easy to lose track of what you are spending your hard earned money on. Regularly take a look at your monthly outgoings and determine whether you actually need to continue with it. For example you might have three different online streaming services when in reality you only really use the one.

What about that extra phone insurance that you had included on your new monthly phone contract, but is now so old that the phone value isn’t worth spending the money on.

Things can change over time so it’s certainly useful to reevaluate your monthly costs on a regular basis to make necessary changes that will ultimately save you money.
