Harris Lamb secures reserved matters permission for 79 homes in Bewdley

Planners at Harris Lamb have secured reserved matters approval for 79 new homes in Bewdley on behalf of Elan Homes.

The team had previously secured outline planning permission on the eight-acre land parcel off Stourport Road ahead of the business’ Residential Land team negotiating an unconditional sale of the site to the developer last year.

Further to having submitted reserved matters plans to Wyre Forest District Council for the site, the authority has given the proposals the go-ahead, with work on the development expected to start this summer.

John Pearce, from Harris Lamb, who oversaw the plans on behalf of Elan Homes, said: “We are delighted that the authority has granted permission for this development, which will bring much-needed quality homes to Bewdley.

“The plans paid particular attention to the local environment and amenities and include measures for comprehensive landscaping and a community playground to ensure that the new development is an asset to the area.

“The scheme itself includes five bungalows with all properties having rear gardens and off-street parking provision, with 20 of them including a garage,” he said.

John added: “As per the proposals, a children’s playground is included within the site, along with a landscaping scheme which includes 93 new trees being planted to enhance the natural environment and to contribute to biodiversity net gain. In addition, two pedestrian and cycle links are proposed to Stourport Road for the convenience of local residents.”

Head of land at Elan Homes in the Midlands, Ben Jowett said: Now that we have the green light to progress with our exciting plans to bring quality homes to Worcestershire, we’re looking forward to starting work on site this summer. We are committed to delivering a new community within Bewdley, delivering assets such as a playground and travel improvements to benefit residents within the area along with new homes.

“There is a strong demand from would-be homeowners wanting to call Bewdley home, and we are proud to be able to deliver these much-needed homes.”
