A Shropshire company specialising in designing and producing glass products has launched a voucher scheme so people can still give gifts to family and friends at a time when normal shopping isn’t possible.
The Glass Studio showroom, based in Beeches Lane, Shrewsbury, is currently closed but the family-run business is keen that people should still have access to gifts which can be ordered by email.
It means customers can give presents for birthdays, anniversaries or frame the artwork that children, of families, create during the lockdown period.
David Hill, of The Glass Studio, said giving vouchers for a glass product means those receiving it can spend their time at home perusing family albums to find the photograph they want to use.
“People can also have a look through the work of the artists and photographers featured on our website – or even have their favourite painting or a child’s drawing put onto glass,” he added.
“We often have people coming to us wanting to create gifts for others, usually using photos of a special occasion and turning them into a stunning piece of glass wall art, but we also have people who gift things as small as coasters or chopping boards.
“These are extremely difficult times and it’s actually quite hard at the moment to give a gift to someone that they can do something with straight away, but it is a service we are able to provide through gift vouchers.
“The vouchers can be sent to people via email or post, enabling them to get a glass gift for a birthday or other special occasion like an anniversary. They then simply return the voucher with the image they wish to use and we will produce it.”
The present crisis has forced change in many ways, restrictions on travel, who people can spend time with and how food and other products are bought.
“We are all having to adapt,” said David.
“As customers can no longer come to us at our Shrewsbury showroom, and as we can no longer go to them to measure up for glass splashbacks, wall art, showers and more, we came up with the gift voucher option which ticks all the boxes – and will help us to continue running during the crisis.
