Fresh Start in Education, the national, specialist education provider dedicated to re-engaging young people who are unable to access mainstream education, is celebrating 15 successful years in business.
Founded in 2011 by Antony Meade, who now serves as non-executive director, the company has supported over 3,000 individuals across all age groups since its inception – from early years to adulthood.
With a proven track record in supporting with students who have been permanently or temporarily excluded, those at risk of exclusion, school refusers, young offenders, children in care and individuals with emotional, behavioural or serious health issues, Fresh Start in Education has worked with more than 180 local authorities and delivered over 400,000 hours of support.
Owing to the hard work and dedication of the team and learners alike, 94 per cent of Fresh Start students have achieved successful outcomes – whether that’s reintegration into education or work placements, gaining qualifications, or moving forward in their education journey more widely.
This comes as the government has recently announced a ten-year plan to revitalise schools and colleges for every child. The plan places emphasis on inclusive design and the adoption of dedicated ‘inclusive bases’ – safe spaces away from busy classrooms to bridge the gap between mainstream and specialist provision – in every school, as well as new guidance on adaptations to improve inclusivity and accessibility.
Working with local authorities, schools, parents and carers, Fresh Start ensures every child has access to the education, mentoring and emotional support they need to succeed, no matter their past or personal circumstances. Its mission is to inspire hope for a future, and to provide the tools to make that future possible.
