Former MP, The Rt Hon Kenneth Clarke to speak at NCBC January event

The Rt Hon Kenneth Clarke CH QC, who was the Member of Parliament for Rushcliffe from 1970 to 2019, will be the guest speaker at the next Nottingham City Business Club event taking place on Friday 17 January 2020.  His talk will be entitled “What Next, following the General Election and Brexit”. 

Kenneth Clarke held several Ministerial offices in the Governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major – as Secretary of State for Health, Secretary of State for Education and Science, Home Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer.  He also served as Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice and Minister without Portfolio within the Coalition Government of David Cameron.

As the Member of the House of Commons with the longest continuous service (49 years), he also became Father of the House from 2017 until his recent retirement from Parliament.

Nottingham City Business Club was established in 1924, with its membership comprising of senior representatives of the local business community. The club is sponsored by national law firm Buckles, who have an office in Nottingham city centre.

The club holds monthly lunch – meetings for members to meet fellow senior business people in the city, with different prominent guest speakers featuring at each event.  The next event is on Friday 21 February.
