Best-selling author Marcus Alton will host an afternoon of Brian Clough nostalgia at Mansfield Library later this month.
The multi-media event on Tuesday 24th March will also include a special tribute to the man Clough described as ‘the Picasso of our game,’ the European Cup winner John Robertson, who died on Christmas Day.
Marcus has written five books about former Nottingham Forest boss Clough and hosts the award-winning Green Jumper podcast, which features stories and memories of the charismatic Clough, who died in 2004.
“I’m really looking forward to bringing this ‘Green Jumper’ event to Mansfield and recalling some wonderful Brian Clough stories, including the times I interviewed him,” said Marcus.
“I was also fortunate to interview John Robertson for the podcast and will be paying a special tribute to the man who was my favourite player when I was a lad. I’m glad I got to tell him he was my top player and always will be.
“After the sad news that he’d passed away at Christmas, I was interviewed by BBC television and said that Robbo epitomised the Forest fairytale under Brian Clough. He was in the reserves when Clough joined in 1975, but went on to win the European Cup twice – setting-up the winning goal in 1979 and scoring the winner in 1980.”
Marcus will also be recalling stories from his latest book, Brian Clough The Lost Tapes, which is supporting good causes. The book uncovers a treasure trove of Cloughie tales. There’ll also be a look back at how Marcus became the driving force behind the Brian Clough statue in Nottingham.

The Green Jumper pod has received national and international recognition, with judges praising the way it is still uncovering new stories about Clough.
The pod was ‘Highly Commended’ at the UK Independent Podcast Awards, which recognise shows that are free from corporate ties and include productions from solo creators.
The podcast was named as one of the best football pods in the world, in the 2025 Sports Podcast Awards. With listeners in over 90 countries, the Green Jumper features a range of guests, including former players, fans, friends and journalists.
Marcus runs the non-profit tribute website, brianclough.com, with the support of Clough’s family, and has spoken at several book festivals. His live pod events have raised thousands of pounds for good causes.
