Female powered PR, Marketing and Events agency celebrates their 3rd birthday, despite the challenges of COVID and beyond

This month, London based PR and Marketing and Events agency Goho is celebrating its third birthday. When compared with the statistics showing that 60% of all businesses fail within the first 3 years, Goho are incredibly proud to reach this milestone, despite everything the last few years has thrown at them.

“It’s amazing to see how far the business has come over the past 3 years. When starting out in 2019 I could have never predicted the challenges we’d face, over and above the usual pressures that building a startup can have. Now, we have a growing team, an amazing roster of clients and so much ambition for the future” said Stacey Karlsson, Founder and MD of Goho.

Goho started life as the Girl on Her Own, with Founder Stacey building the business from her laptop after becoming disillusioned with the industry and how clients were treated – all too often creative output and customer service could get left behind. Now the team has expanded and continues to grow each year.

But it’s not been an easy three years for Goho, just as it’s been a difficult few years for all businesses, big and small. COVID saw one of the biggest revenue streams – events – grind to a halt as we all found ourselves in extended periods of lockdown. But just as the clients Goho worked with had to adapt, so did the business, taking events online and increasing PR and social media offerings.

When finding clients to work with, Goho aims to work with businesses that share the same values and drive and promote businesses looking to make a change in the world.

Not only that, but Goho is a female-powered business – the majority of the team and leadership over the years have been female. There are no glaring gender pay gaps or women who feel they can’t excel within team Goho which cannot always be said within the industry.

“I love working for a female-powered business, having recently come off maternity leave, Goho has really supported me with the transition and has been incredibly flexible which is unfortunately still quite rare in today’s world.” said Liv Harris, Operations Director of Goho.

The team at Goho also want to help uplift other women in business and have built a growing client base of female leaders across industries, and more recently have partnered with Rodelle, a female-led virtual assistant business, to offer support packages for other businesses.

At the heart of what Goho does is a desire to give back and help others. In the past couple of years, the agency has been able to offer Internships and Kickstart placements to help give a step up to young people making their way into the industry, offering support at a time when opportunities were limited through the pandemic. These placements resulted in contracts being offered, and this spring the agency hopes to offer more internship opportunities to give new chances to others wanting to break into the industry.

Goho also extends this mission to give back towards charities and community organisations too. Currently, they are providing free social media support to the London based Bassuah Legacy Foundation, and in celebration of their third birthday, are partnering with Selva to offset the team’s carbon emissions and support vital sustainable reforestation schemes.

“We have had an incredible three years, and cannot wait to see where the next three will take us. We hope to continue supporting projects we believe in and supporting new talent well into the future and are so excited to see how the team will continue to grow and evolve” said Stacey.
