Leading entrepreneurial network, Female Founders Rise, has announced its launch date for Birmingham. The community for female and non-binary founders will host its first event in the city on Monday 19 February, at x+why in Brindleyplace, giving guests the chance to meet both founders and funders.
Female Founders Rise is focused on connecting entrepreneurs from across the UK, with over 2,500 members and a wider community of 10,000 supporters and allies. With over half of its membership outside of London, the network already hosts events and meet-ups in Edinburgh, Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, and Bristol; with Birmingham next on its hitlist.
The event will officially launch Female Founders Rise in the city, giving guests the chance to hear from three exciting entrepreneurs: Rose Ovensehi, Founder & CEO of Flora & Curl; Pamela Aculey, Founder & CEO of Just Like Me Books and MIXD reality; and Surlender Pendress, Co-Founder of Love Writing Co.
The entrepreneurs will share their journeys, challenges, and triumphs in establishing and growing their businesses, in a panel event hosted by Tara Attfield-Tomes. Tara is Founder and Managing Director of EAST VILLAGE., a leading PR agency that works with emerging tech brands, Chair of the TechWM Women in Tech Special Interest Group, and sits on the TAG Network Midlands Women in Leadership Network.
The community’s founder, Emmie Faust, will host a second panel event highlighting the support available for founders across the region. She will be joined by Rebekah Taitt from Lloyds Bank Business & Commercial, Alexis Toft from Minerva Business Angels, and Ed Hobbs from x+why.
Commenting ahead of the launch, Emmie comments: “I am so excited to be hosting our first event in Birmingham – we already have a collective of fantastic members here, and it’s great to be able to grow our footprint event further. Our mission is to enable financial freedom for women through entrepreneurship, and events like this help us to bring founders together with funders and the right business support services to help them truly scale.”
Female Founders Rise aims to provide a platform for women entrepreneurs to share experiences, challenges, and successes in building and scaling their businesses. The event is open to female and non-binary founders looking to grow businesses, hire teams, and secure financing for high-growth ventures. VCs, investors, and ecosystem partners supporting female founders are also welcome.
