A 5km colour run splashed into St Neots, covering participants in every colour of the rainbow.
Around 350 people took part in the colourful PaintRush event on Sunday 26th June, sponsored by Right at Home, Premier Plus, iDash, Tax Assist and Mammoth Wipes, all to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice.
The course, which started and finished at Riverside Park in the town, was dotted with paint throwing stations, where children and adults alike were showered in clouds of dazzling colour.
The family-friendly event raised around £9,729.88 for the hospice, which provides expert and compassionate palliative care to people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.
Joanne Landucci, Senior Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice, added: “What an amazing atmosphere there was at PaintRush! A huge thank you to everyone who took part and to all those involved in making the event happen, including our sponsors, volunteers and staff.
“We hope that everyone who got involved had lots of fun and took home some amazing memories, as well as the feel-good factor that they’ve helped local families needing our specialist care and support.”
Chelsea Zwetsloot was on the committee of volunteers who helped to arrange the event. She said: “I’m so proud that we’ve been able to finally deliver PaintRush to St Neots. We had an incredible day, and the support from the amazing volunteers, and the community was fantastic. We saw so many happy faces and it seemed like people were having a great time. We really delivered on painting the town!
“Most importantly, it’s been such a great chance to raise some much needed funds for Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice. The effects from the pandemic are still being felt, and every pound raised helps to make a difference, and enables them to keep delivering the care that their patients so desperately need. I’m so proud to work with them, and look forward to doing more to continue to support them.”
