Fresh from winning a series of industry awards at the end of 2023, consultancy ETS shares the key to running highly successful learning and development programmes.
Nicky Paris, Client Partner & Director at ETS comments: “A common frustration we hear is of training failing to have a lasting impact or deliver demonstrable change. Our approach meets this challenge head-on. Firstly, all our work is based on an up-front diagnostic to ensure highly relevant content design. Secondly, we co-create our programmes in conjunction with our client. Having created an initial blueprint, we then regroup regularly to review and refine the content from one module to the next. Finally, we run a follow-up evaluation to capture crucial evidence to quantify the impact, and concretely reveal the extent to which we’ve moved the dial.”
This is an approach that is already reaping rewards for ETS’s clients – including Gatehouse Bank and Provide Community for their programmes focusing on leadership development (Gatehouse Bank) and leadership/engagement (Provide Community).
The impact of the ETS programmes on these organisations has been significant, with highlights for Gatehouse Bank including:
- Post programme, leaders increasing in every competency measured (some by +13% points)
- ‘Manager readiness’ proportion moved from estimated 30-50% to 70-80%
- Uplift in internal promotions among delegates (30), following the programme
- Positive impact on reducing staff turnover.
Charles Haresnape, CEO at Gatehouse Bank, comments: “Our MDP has been an integral aspect in developing our culture and has undoubtedly enhanced our line managers’ competence, making us well-poised to move into the future and exceed our strategic business objectives.”
And for Provide Community:
- Achieving 94% colleague engagement in the latest survey (a significant uplift from the already high 90% in surveys one and two)
- Big shift in perceptions of leaders, with double-digit improvement in most engagement scores
- +15% growth on revenue year-on-year, following the programme (exceeding their target by 7%)
Mark Heasman, Group CEO at Provide, adds: “I’ve run a number of different companies, in different sectors over several decades and, by a country mile, the best team I have worked with, is ETS.”
The ETS methodology, and superb delivery, resulted in these programmes scooping a combined three award wins at the 2023 Business Culture Awards and 2023 Association for Business Psychology Awards. To find out more about their work visit: www.etsplc.com.
