To celebrate International Women’s Day 2020, Diablesse Rum have teamed up with Cottonopolis to host a ‘girl power’ celebration, with creative workshops, pop-ups and cocktails on Sunday 8th March.
Diablesse Rum, led by Managing Director, Cleo Farman, will join forces with Cottonopolis to host a day full of female-led activities, showcasing the talents of some of the young female entrepreneurs in the city, with a soundtrack provided by an all-female collective from The Beast Boutique.
A special cocktail menu has also been created for the occasion, with a percentage of the proceeds donated to The Pankhurst Trust (in connection with Women’s Aid), who work together to challenge gender inequality and help the victims of domestic violence get the help and support they need.
For workshops, hosted by creative power women, Aimee Jay from Bloom HQ and Lucy Charlotte Jewellery, guests can support independent, female lead business and create something special. From 10.30am, Aimee will be hosting one of her most popular floristry classes, where guests can learn how to make a flower bouquet, using beautiful, seasonal flowers, and from 1pm, Lucy Charlotte Jewellery will host a ring workshop, with guests learning all the skills to make their very own solid silver ring from scratch using traditional silversmithing techniques.
Tickets for both workshops can be purchased online now: www.cottonopolis-nq.com/iwd2020
Alongside workshops, there will also be a host of pop-ups to explore throughout the day. Local accessory and jewellery brand, July Child, founded by jewellery-enthusiast Sinead Flood, will be selling a selection of must-have pieces, from signet rings to on-trend hair accessories, and Small Fry Collective, a collaborative platform for creatives, run by local illustrators; Áine, Maisy and Maia, will follow in the evening, setting up a pop-up shop of hand-drawn artwork and other one-off pieces.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Northern Quarter residents are switching things up, inviting some of the best local female DJ’s to select the very best female power playlist all day long.
Cottonopolis will also be serving its famous brunch, served from 10-3pm, offering a selection of sweet and savoury dishes to kick-start the day. Yum Cha will begin from 4-10pm, where guests can enjoy 2 hours of unlimited Dim Sum from the passing trolleys.
